You can have a successful remote career no matter what industry you’re in. Entrepreneurs, coders, and artists alike–everyone has the chance to work remotely thanks to technology. Many companies now offer positions that can be done remotely but how do you find them? How to find remote work?

How to find remote work?

There are many ways to find remote work, but the best way to find it is through a simple process:

  1. Look for job postings that specifically mention “remote work”. As simple as it sounds, many forget to check if the job offering they are looking for is actually available for working remotely.
  2. Check out job boards that list remote positions. Some websites that offer such postings are Linked In, Glassdoor, Remotive.IO, Indeed, Reed, and many more.
  3. Ask your current employer if they have any remote positions available. You will not lose anything if you just ask your boss if you can work remotely. Present your case that this is what you need for the current stage of your life. Explaining the pros of one working remotely always helps sway the decisions of the management.
  4. Network with people who already work remotely. There are many communities out there that are made of people working remotely including our Nomade Community in which anyone can apply to join and it’s completely FREE. You will get access to our slack where you can interact with other people who already work remotely. If you are just starting having someone to answer your questions will be quite helpful.
  5. Get creative and think outside the traditional job search box. Little creativity even in the job search never hurts. Sometimes you can end up finding your dream job in unexpected ways, from a post you have made on Linked in to randomly sitting in a cafe and being offered a job as a content writer. The more you talk about what you need the more likely is someone to think of you when they have that to offer.

By following these steps, you’ll be sure to find plenty of great remote work opportunities! Best of luck in your job search!

What it takes to become a professional remote worker

There are a lot of reasons why people might want to work remotely. Maybe they’re looking for more flexible hours, or they want to be able to work from anywhere in the world.

Whatever the reason, there are some things that anyone who wants to become a professional remote worker should know.

Self-discipline

First and foremost, you need to have self-discipline. Working from home can be very distracting, and there’s always something else that you could be doing instead of working. You need to be able to set boundaries for yourself and stick to them.

Self-organization

Second, you need to be organized. This is especially important if you’re going to be working on multiple projects at the same time. You need to be able to keep track of deadlines and deliverables and make sure that each project is getting the attention it deserves.

Good communication

Third, you need good communication skills. When you’re not in the same room as your team or your clients, it can be easy for miscommunications to happen. You need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.

Understanding technology

Fourth, you need to be comfortable with technology. A lot of remote work requires using different kinds of software and online tools. If you’re not comfortable using these kinds of things, it will make your job much harder than it needs to be.

Set the boundaries of your workday

Fifth, you need to have a thick skin. When working remotely can be difficult to differentiate when your work day starts and ends since you might be always online, always chatting with your colleagues and workmates. But a boundary must be set and there is no one else who can do that for you but yourself.

Self-motivation

Last but not least, you need to be self-motivated. Working from home can be isolating, and it’s easy to lose motivation when you’re not around other people who are working towards the same goal. You need to be able to keep yourself motivated and on track, even when it’s tough.

An open mind is key in the process of finding remote work

The traditional workforce is changing, and more opportunities for remote work are appearing. To be a successful remote worker, it’s important to keep an open mind to all the possibilities that come with this type of job.

Don’t get bogged down by thinking about all the things from your past that might hold you back from being successful in a remote role. Instead, focus on the present and future, and what you can do to make the most of this opportunity.

There are many different paths to success as a remote worker, so don’t limit yourself by thinking there’s only one way to do things. Be flexible and adaptable, and always be willing to learn new things.

By keeping an open mind and staying positive, you’ll set yourself up for success in any remote role you take on.
